Why Brazil Captivated Me: A Journey Through History, Culture, and Cuisine

When I first arrived in Brazil, I felt an immediate connection, a sense that this vibrant country could be my home. Of course, my rational mind quickly chimed in with all the reasons why that was an impossible idea. Yet here I am, writing to you from my beautiful home in Rio de Janeiro, where I host guests from around the world in my accommodations and unique cultural experiences.

I’ve come to know Brazil through its cuisine, its breathtaking natural beauty, and its remarkable fusion of cultures—a blend like no other. The more I travel, explore, and learn about this country, the deeper my admiration and love grow.

With a degree in history and political science, I was naturally drawn to Brazil’s rich and complex past. As I delved into its history, I uncovered fascinating, often surprising stories. Since 2017, I’ve been sharing these tales through my Brazilian Flavors cooking experience—a unique mix of history lesson and hands-on cooking class. Visitors often leave astonished by the depth of Brazil’s cultural and culinary heritage.

For years, I dreamed of writing a book to share my perspective on Brazil. That dream is now becoming a reality, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. This book is my love letter to Brazil, celebrating its abundance and diversity.

Brazil is a country of immense complexity, with countless layers waiting to be explored. The more I learn, the more intrigued I become, and my bucket list only grows longer.
